A Smoky Mountain HI

Here is a journey I make each day. Time flows on this side of eternity. I have aged as gracefully as reasonable as can be be expected, and yet feel not a day older in my mind. As I begin a life in the Smoky Mountains I hope you will share my journey as well. www.kleincabin.com

A Smoky Mountain hi.. devotional

“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31

Here, Paul is reminding us of two truths.  First, that whatever we do, have, or understand is because of the Grace and the Generosity of God, Himself.  Nothing that we do, as Christians goes unnoticed, by the Father, no matter how mundane of insignificant it may seem.

Secondly, God indicates, through Paul, that we should never consider ourselves to be all that profoundly important. Often, we tend to think we are so wise, so learned, that we are above another, but in this verse God tells us we are all the same before Him. We all eat, sleep, drink and basically servive as God allows us to and intended.

“He (Jesus) is before all things and in turn holds all things together.” Colossians 1:17.

Regardless of our innate abilities or acquired knowledge, everyday, we all must acknowledge the provisions of the God of the universe to stay alive. Yet, God does allow us each and individually to get glimpses into the profoundness of Himself. This can be through Bible study, prayer or insights.  These insights, knowledges or visions are not for our ego to be influenced but that our hearts might be “ strangely warmed” and our minds quickened, on those occasions.

It is personal foolishness to think of ourselves to be “greater than we ought”. We get caught up in our own “profoundness” instead of His. You are as profound as God makes you and as wise as you apply what you have learned. You are as useful as you live what you have learned and then shared, in love, with the lives you influence. Knowing truth and the application of truth requires two vastly different skills.

Combining these two thoughts, we learn that every moment is a gift from the Father and that He wants to teach us so much more. What He has taught us, we as Christians, must live in such a way, so those without God can understand His message.

He teaches us, not so we can be better than others but He teaches us so we can be better than we were.

Be a blessing. It is the least and the best you can do!
